Inspiring a culture of research within dental education is crucial to translating findings into practice and empowering tomorrow’s dental scholars. NIDCR funded ten PRIMED collaborations to address these challenges in fall 2023. One collaboration between UF and ECU called, “Development of Opportunities for Research (DOOR),” focuses on a team-based science curriculum for dental students, residents and clinical faculty. Short talks for this session will present an overview of the PRIMED initiative and highlight the DOOR project along with other PRIMED collaborations. Outcomes include discussions on how to initiate collaborations to engage students, residents and faculty more broadly in research.

Learning Objectives:

  • Assess potential collaborations to deepen the research culture within and across institutions.
  • Describe innovative ways to integrate in-depth clinical research training and experiences in dental educational and faculty development programs.
  • Integrate the lessons learned and resources developed through the PRIMED initiatives to train and inspire the next generation of dental educators and scholars.
