Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a critical set of intra- and interpersonal skills in social awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation and social skills. High EI leads to improved communication, teamwork, patient care quality and greater career satisfaction. Participants will discover the five elements of EI and be engaged through self-assessment and interactive mindfulness activities. This session will close with a practical discussion sharing examples of how EI can be cultivated in oral health education. Join this workshop to develop techniques to empower our students to be more compassionate, empathetic, resilient and caring professionals.

Learning Objectives:

Self-assess one's level of Emotional Intelligence.
Recognize the five elements of Emotional Intelligence (self-awareness, regulation, motivation, social awareness and social skills) and the benefits to patient care.
Strategize ways to incorporate and apply Emotional Intelligence in the dental education setting.
