Building on the theme Be Inspired, Empower Tomorrow, this ADEA Chair of the Board Symposium will explore four types of courage and the significance of each to the future of oral health education and care through the experiences of five academic leaders. The audience will learn about applying courage, moral courage, intellectual courage, social courage and collective courage. The symposium will inspire and empower attendees to nurture the character strengths necessary for a culture of courage within their institutions, ultimately illuminating new paths, creating authentic, empowered cultures and solutions to the greatest challenges facing oral health and dental education today and tomorrow.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the core concepts of courage and how they apply to overcoming fear and uncertainty.
  • Describe how to become a more courageous agent of change.
  • Assess, by fostering communication, collaboration and shared responsibility, how to address tomorrow’s challenges in oral health education.
